What is one skincare trend that will never go out of style?

Glowing skin is the skincare trend that is always in

For the beauty enthusiast who happens to be a fashion enthusiast, too, Fashion Week is every week. Even in the middle of a global pandemic. If you don’t believe me, that means you do not spend enough time on Instagram. I don’t blame you - it gets more exhausting by the year. In any event, the show must and will go on. Apart from the garment designs, one of the things that people close attention to is skin. The beauty looks are as hot a topic as what Lori Harvey wore while sitting on the front row.

Like fashion, many beauty trends emerge from these decadent showcases. Popular trends like a graphic eye, full and unkempt brows, and rosy cheeks still trend. While vamp lips, pencil-thin brows, and matte skin seem to be for show only. One of the longstanding trends that came “phresh off the runway” is that dewy skin look. You know what it is. It is that almost-oily, sunkissed finish to your skin. There is a unique technique for that makeup look. Some may argue that it’s even harder to pull off with your bare skin. For the barefaced beauty, this dewy look is also known as glowing skin. And unlike many fashion and beauty trends, it’s always en vogue

Glowing skin is a sign of vitality.

When people see you, they assume that you are well-rested, stress-free, happy, well-kept, healthy, and rich. Yea, the optics can be misleading for the average person. My skin glowed on many days that I did not feel my best. But this is not a journal.

Not only is glowing skin a sign of vitality, but people associate it with youthfulness. This assumption is more grounded because of the facts that we know about aging skin. No matter your ethnicity or skin color, you are sure to age! The older we get, the quicker our body loses collagen and elastin. I talk about collagen in a lot of articles because it is the bedrock of healthy skin. In case you missed it, “collagen is the most plentiful protein in your body” (Healthline). It is the glue that holds all your connective tissues together. Having collage increases your skin’s suppleness, elasticity, and firmness. A lack of collagen leads to the common signs of aging that include sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles.

You can boost your body’s collagen production in many ways, and an anti-aging skincare routine is one of them. If you are in your early 20s and wonder why you need an anti-aging skincare routine, it was not raining when Noah built the ark, babe. In the case of mature skin, prevention will always be better than the cure. To be clear, glowing skin is a lifestyle more than it is a quick fix. But, if you are looking for something to brighten up your skin on-the-go, keep reading to learn:

3 quick tips for glowing skin

1. Use Masktini’s Metal Head Gold Brightening Mask

It is 2021. We are taking pictures of and posting all our outfits and promoting all our favorite things. Even if those favorite things are ours. Stay awake. Not your average 24K face mask, Metal Head is what you need for collagen production. Why? One of the key ways to boost collagen production is by implementing vitamin C in your diet and skincare routine. And what do you know? Vitamin C happens to be one of the active ingredients in this face mask! The best - quick - part about this mask is that it leaves behind gold dust in a way that only a good fairy godmother would. That makes it the perfect base for a dewy makeup look or a no-makeup kind of day.

2. Keep it chill

I don’t know about you, but I like my showers hot and steamy. If I am not boiling like a lobster, I don’t quite feel clean. Scalding hot showers are not the best for your skin. They dry it out and leave your pores wide open for free radicals to attack. Towards the end of every hot shower, take the last minute or so to close your pores with water that is a little cooler than lukewarm. If you want an instant glow, go full polar bear with water on the coldest setting to shock your pores closed. When your pores are tight, your skin will produce more oils. Yet, it will only be able to do so gingerly since your pores are so tight. As you go through your after-shower routine (please tell me you have one), your skin will become shinier. That’s the glowing skin coming through. You’re welcome.

3. Put your skincare serums in the refrigerator

Not only is a cold one-minute shower great for glowing skin, but so are refrigerated skin care serums! Think of a time that you drank ice-cold water on a hot day. How refreshing? As you drink cold water on a hot day, you feel your body cool down. Your blood circulates more freely as you consume the elixir of life. Well, collagen is not the only thing that causes your skin to glow; blood circulation is too! If you have poor circulation, your skin may appear dry, translucent, thin, and patchy. In other instances, your skin may appear dark. Poor circulation is one of the reasons that people have dark circles under their eyes. When you keep your skincare serums refrigerated and apply them after a warm or hot shower, you give your face the same feeling your body gets after drinking cold water on a hot day!
